Drug Uses
Ranitidine is used for treating and preventing ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and maintain healing of erosive esophagiti. Ranitidine may also be prescribed for other complications as determined by your doctor.

 

How Taken
Use Ranitidine as per the direction given by your doctor with or without a meal. Please note that you do take Ranitidine at least 2 hours before or after taking cephalosporins (eg, cephalexin), itraconazole, ketoconazole, or quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin). Even you feel better continue this Medication. Antacids may also be taken as needed to help you get relief from stomach pain, unless your doctor prescribed otherwise.

 

Missed Dose

If somehow you missed the dose, then immediately take that dose after you remember. However if you get to the nearby time for next dose, skip taking the Missed Dose and continue with your dose taking schedule. Do remember that you never exceed the intake of dose to compensate you missed dosage previously.

 

Storage
The storage criteria is that do keep the product away from heat, moisture and light and make sure that the temperature of the place where you will keep the product must be between 59 – 86 °F that means 15 – 30 °C. Make sure that children cannot get in touch with it.

Ranitidine may cause drowsiness or dizziness and may get worse if Ranitidine is taken with alcohol or other medicines. Remember that you use Ranitidine with caution mentioned on the package. Never perform any kind of possible unsafe tasks with this drug until and unless you are too sure of its effect. Contact your doctor if your symptoms are getting worse. Ranitidine should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Never take less or more other than what is prescribed by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical complications before taking Ranitidine, especially if you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances, or if you are allergic to any component of Ranitidine, or if you have kidney or liver problems, pain spreading to arm, neck, or shoulder, lightheadedness, nausea or vomiting, increased sweating,  frequent wheezing or chest pain, stomach pain, unexplained weight loss, chest or shoulder pain with shortness of breath, or if you have a history of blood problem (porphyria), have difficulty or pain swallowing food, vomiting with blood, or black or bloody stools, or you have had heartburn for longer than 3 months, or if you are pregnant, getting pregnant or are breast–feeding the baby. In that case discuss with your doctor the merits and demerits of using Ranitidine during pregnancy. Ranitidine is excreted in breast milk. Some medicines may interact with Ranitidine. Thus, let your doctor know of all prescription or nonprescription medicines, herbals, or diet supplements that you have been taking. Elder patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Ranitidine. Ranitidine has not been recommended for use in children under the age of 1 month because safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed yet.

Possible Side Effects
